Fantastic surprise!
In the garden I have a small water bowl,sometimes it is called(よばれている) a mini fish pond or outdoor fish bowl.
I have had it there for many years.
There are many medaka. Medaka in English is commonly known(知られている) as Japanese rice fish.
The bowl has become its own small ecosystem.
Along with the medaka, there are two frogs that have lived in the bowl for a few years.
They give birth(産む) to tadpoles every year.
There is a ton of tiny snails in the bowl too. It also attracts many bees, birds, butterflies and so on that use it for drinking water.
I have plants in the bowl as well.
I put two lotus plants in the bowl maybe 10 years ago.
They used to bloom every year then they stopped blooming around 3 years ago.
They grew lots of leaves but no flowers!
Then this year to my surprise they bloomed again! Happy days!!
For a few weeks now I’ve had beautiful flowers.
They will close at night as it gets cooler then open up the next day as it gets warmer.
I wonder what will happen next year. Lloyd
素敵な驚き！
時に、小さな池、屋外の水槽などと呼ばれる小さな水鉢が庭にある。
何年もそこにある。
そこにはたくさんのメダカがいる。
メダカは英語では日本のライスフィッシュとして広く知られている。
この水鉢はそれ自体が小さな生態系になったんだ。
メダカと2匹のカエルは2～3年、水鉢の中で暮らしてた。
毎年、おたまじゃくしをそこで産んで。
ものすごい数の小さなカタツムリもいる。
たくさんの蜂や、鳥、蝶々なども引き寄せ、水を飲むのに使われている。
植物も鉢に入れてるんだ。多分10年位前に蓮の花を2つ入れた。
以前は毎年咲いていたんだけど、3年位前から、咲かなくなっちゃったんだ。
たくさんの葉っぱは育つのに、花はない。
そして今年、驚いたことに、再び咲いたんだ！！やったね！！
数週間になるけどきれいな花が咲いてるよ。
涼しくなる夜は閉じて、翌日、温かくなるにつれて開く。
来年はどうなるのかな～。 ロイド
