Did you know that the average life of a Koi fish in Japan is 40 to 60 years?
In America the average age is only 15 years, I don’t know why.
The oldest koi ever was over two hundred years old!
The most expensive koi ever sold was $1.8 million that is around 203 million yen.
I have a Koi pond at home, I love it.
Most mornings I will have a cup of tea in the garden and happily watch my fish.
It is really relaxing watching them swim around.
They seem to live very peacefully together.
The other day I was thinking they will probably live longer than me!
I was also thinking I want (need?) more Koi.
So, I contacted Ehara Koi Farm in Yonago to order more fish.
My wife doesn’t think we need more fish, so I might have to secretly release them in to the pond.
Who knows, if I raise beautiful Koi, maybe one day I can sell them for $1.8 million! I’m sure my wife will be happy then ;-).

鯉
日本の鯉の平均寿命は40年から60年だって知っていましたか？
アメリカの平均はたった15年。なんでかは知らないんですけど。
今までで1番長寿だった鯉は200歳買超え！
今までで1番高額で売られた鯉は180万ドル、つまりおよそ2億300万円。
ぼくは家に鯉の池がある。すごく気に入っているんだ。
ほぼ毎朝庭で紅茶を飲んで、ぼくの魚たちを幸せに眺める。
彼らが泳いでるいるのを見るのはすごくリラックスできるんだ。
彼らは共にとても平和に生きている様に見える。
ある日、彼らがおそらくぼくよりも長生きするだろうと考えていた！
それと同時にもっと鯉が欲しい(要る?)とも考えていた。
それで、もっと魚を注文するため、米子の”えはら鯉ファーム”さんに連絡した。
うちの奥さんはもっと魚が要るとは思っていない。
だから、ぼくはこっそりと池の中に彼らを放してやらないといけないかも。
わからないよね、もしぼくが美しい鯉を育てたら、ある日180万ドルで売れるかもしれないよ！
そうしたらうちの奥さんは喜ぶに違いないよね(^_-)
